Hi All!
Here’s your weekly dose of “On-Track” advice, a list of tips & tricks to stay on top of your goals.
1. Your behaviors are driven by rewards. We repeat what is fun.
Rewards are the motivating force behind everything you do. Think about it: You eat food to feel full and energized. You watch TV to relax and wind down. Rewards make you feel good, but they also reinforce your behaviors. This means that if you want to build a new habit, such as reading, meditating, or exercising, you must connect the behavior with a strong reward.
2. Seeking validation feels like an effort well-worth it, but it often causes you to feel under-appreciated.
Seeking and receiving social validation is a basic human need. We want to be part of a community and belong to a group that accepts us. Validation, however, is a slippery slope. It feels good to be appreciated but try to please your peers too much and you won’t do all the things you genuinely care about.

I used social media to escape from responsibilities; scrolling through my news feed and engaging with peers was a form of procrastination. On top of that, I posted content to feel a sense of validation, the feeling that I was accepted and appreciated by my friends and acquaintances.
Since I made the decision to take a break from online platforms, I’ve learned a lot of great lessons, some of which I share in this week’s article titled, “No Social Media For 1 Year: How It Changed My Life.” If you want to learn more about my experience, I suggest you take a read.
Until next week,
