Hi All,
I hope all is well. As always, here’s your weekly On-Track advice, a list of tips and tricks to keep you on track with your goals in life and business.
1. “Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.” — Brené Brown
We have the tendency to avoid a place, situation, or person when we connect it with a negative experience. An awkward interaction with a colleague in your work kitchen might keep you from eating your lunch there. If you go shopping at a clothing store and are charged more than expected, you likely not going to want to return for more the next time you’re in the area.
Try to see the good in someone in times you feel negatively about them. They probably feel just as bad about the situation as you do. Believe in the good of the world and know that no matter how much you feel like staying away, it’s always good practice to show up even when you feel like staying away. It builds character and most importantly, your courage.
2. “Just for the record, darling, not all positive change feels positive in the beginning.” — S. C. Lourie
Not all life changes feel good in the beginning. This is partially because we expect change to happen quickly. You might feel inclined to quit when you’re not seeing results fast enough, but the truth is that change is often slow and takes place over the span of many months or years. I wrote about this phenomenon in depth here.
3. “In times of failure, it takes courage to get back up and running.” — Mike van der Poel
Work toward a big goal and you’ll inevitably face setbacks. The world tends to challenge people with ambitious goals. It’s for that reason that massive success doesn’t come easy. You have to get back up and running when you fall and not let setbacks sway you.
Until next week,
Mike van der Poel
